A Four Point Plan formulated by the UF Steering Committee, designed to get us from "here" to "there". "There" of course being better salaries, better benefits, and better i.e. more professional working conditions.Item #1: Articulate our Position. Through print, telecommunications, and Internet media "make our position clear". The UF Steering Committee really wants to "clear the air" and to refute some of the misinformation and/or misrepresentations running rampant. Item #2: Counter MisInformation. Closely related to the above, we want to give all unit members the opportunity to get and evaluate accurate information. Item #3: Adopt a Pro-Active Strategy vis-a-vis the Board. With new members of the elected board, UF feels that it is incumbent on us to educate the new board members and to give them the information necessary to make well formed and unbiased judgments that benefit the students and voters of East County. Item #4: Respond to Unfair Negotiating Tactics. Reading the latest "Negotiations Update" above, it should be clear that the district representatives are not negotiating in good faith or they are not fully informed as to their obligations. UF is exploring all avenues available to us through the ballot box, through public agencies (PERB), through work action, and if necessary through other legal avenues to foster a more productive negotiating environment. |
