United Faculty of Grossmont-Cuyamaca Community Colleges

The GCCCD Board

Current board members (2008-2009 school year) - a short bio together with their voting record as regards important issues and their pro/anti faculty stance.

Rick Alexander

Last elected 2006. Stands for reelection 2010. Quick to take credit where credit is not due - i.e. recently reduced student fees. In a campaign meeting hosted by the League of Women Voters prior to the last election (11/2006), Mr. Alexander took credit for the student fee reduction from $26 to $20 per unit. And yet, he is not a member of the Assembly or Senate, and certainly not Governor! Those are the folks responsible.

At the January 2007 all faculty meeting at Grossmont College, Rick stated that he wanted faculty salaries to rise to and be at the state median level. Today, we are mired in negotiations with no credible offer from the district, certainly nothing that would improve our 56th out of 71 ranking of salaries. We don't appear to be at anyone's median level.

As a result, Rick has to be classified as an Anti-Faculty member of the board.

Deanna Weeks

Last elected 2006. Stands for reelection 2010. Ms. Weeks was president during the now infamous "contract" incident in which Chancellor Suarez unilaterally modified his own contract with the District. As noted, this modification had a potential negative fiscal impact in the event of his early termination. Ms. Weeks knowingly (or perhaps unknowingly) signed that modified contract.

Bill Garrett

Reelected in 2008.

Mary Kay Rosinski

Newly elected 2008. Committed to "making real change" on behalf of students in the District. It's felt that she will prove to be "education friendly" with the experience and background necessary to make a real difference.

Greg Barr

Last elected 2006. Stands for reelection 2010.
